Cathejell is a sterile, transparent and water-soluble lubricant gel which allows catheterisation or the insertion of other medical instruments into the urethra to be most gentle and free of pain. The gel is available as lubricant gel with local anaesthetic and disinfectant (Cathejell Lidocain C) or as a plain catheter lubricant gel (Cathejell Mono).
Gentle safety
Relaxed – due to a local anaesthetic (lidocaine), the urethra is relaxed and the catheterisation will be free of pain
Comfortable – tapered, gently rounded applicator
Convenient – the accordion syringe opens easily by breaking off the closure tip and enables application with only one hand
Hygienic – steam sterilized – no ethylene oxide residues
The information provided here is no substitute for consulting a physician and carefully reading the instructions for use.
Wash your hands thoroughly – before and after the application and preferably wear disposable gloves.
Clean and disinfect the external urethral opening.
Remove the paper side from the packaging.
Break off the closure tip of the accordion syringe completely.
Press one drop of gel on the urethral opening to facilitate the insertion of the applicator.
Gently insert the applicator tip into the urethral opening and inject the lubricant gel into the urethra by slowly pressing on the accordion syringe. Avoid putting a pressure on the syringe that is too strong.
Keep the accordion syringe pressed together when withdrawing the applicator tip from the urethra.
In case of using Cathejell Lidocain and Cathejell Lidocain C:
Wait for 5 to 10 minutes before inserting the catheter into the urethra to allow the lidocaine to take effect.
